Feedback On Assignment 2.

Have had feedback regarding my second assignment and am feeling a little confused about where I should be going with my work. My tutor didn't say my work was a complete load of rubbish or anything like that it just that she say's that I need to "move on from the role of observer and instead become the creator of your own message". From reading her feedback the main point to take is that I need to maybe find a more original angle to approach the subject to really get the message across about how important conservation work is, people have seen beautiful imagery of wildlife and landscapes time and time again and just repeating the same process isn't going to be enough. The question I find myself asking is how can I alter my approach so that its more individual but at the same time strong in message?

After a week of strong consideration and conversation with my tutor I'm beginning to consider moving my work in a slightly different direction to as I've said to make it stronger in message and more individual. Although my original intention was to use very straight photography to illustrate a truthful view on conservation my tutor is directing me more away from this a little and use the power of Photoshop to while still retaining this visual truth create more individual work. Below are a couple of experimental images I created as examples of where it might be a good idea to go with my work.

The first image I like quiet a lot because I think its very strong in getting across the message of how within the country our countryside is damaged dew to quarrying/mining processes and when these operations move on the reclamation work that goes on to make use of these damaged landscapes to produce new wetland habitats. My tutor wasn't overly impressed and said she still didn't quiet grasp the message involved so whether it isn't as clear as I hoped it still may need some work. The second image is to do with loss of woodland habitat and here she was a little more happy with the strength of message although the blending of images didn't work for her, in her eyes she recommended just using the first image of the desolated landscape and the timber for sale sign and combine the two for a much stronger result.

I still need to put more work into this new direction but my only concern is its going to move my work away from what my original aim's were for this course in that I wanted to give a very much "truthful" representation of the conservation in this country.
