Getting Up Close.

What I wanted to do next was get some close up images of the bird life that rely on the wetland habitat so as to give the wildlife a little more personality so as to really draw the viewer to the subject matter. Happily for once the weather help my out as alot of the more common residence were more then happy to let me capture them when I provided some food to help them through the sudden bust of winter we're experiencing.

This first group of photos is a nice study of the Swan taken with a small amount of risk as I soon discovered that he/she wasn't the most friendly character to be found even when provided with food. There quiet a bit faster then you'd imagine and I was surprised how painful a bit from something with no teeth can be.

Coots are a fairly wide spread bird but I'd never been this close to one before to be able to appreciate how red there eyes are and how this contrasts against the black of there feathers giving them a slightly scary appearance. Saying that when you see them fighting during breeding season its not that much of a shock that they need to look as mean as possible.

Again as I'd try before I was going for capturing the movement of the subjects to give the impression of how much life there is here, as before the results aren't quiet what I'm looking for but its a slight improvement on the idea.

I know alot of people might not be to pleased seeing photos of Rats but there just as vital to the ecosystem as any bird or mammal that live in the area. There part might not be the most glamorous and we see them more as a pest or a disease spreader but most of this is down to the fact they don't have as good a PR man as say the Squirrel or in a lesser case the Pigeon.

All these photos continues to help illustrate I hope the diversity that can be found and as the seasons change I hope to expand further to show how Wetlands and the other areas I intend to look at are truly bursting with life.
